Adam (Tad) Beer - Childhood at The New Inn, Bathford
I was born in the New Inn Bathford on 1st August 1961. My father was the landlord from the late 1950's to 1966. His name was Edwin Beer and my mum Mrs Betty Beer and we lived above the pub.
I remember sitting on the bar as a child in the evenings while we had trad jazz bands playing in the bar.
My father had the bar and lounge altered and I have the large article on this from the Bath and West Evening Chronicle and I also have a few pictures of us standing outside the pub.
if you stood looking at the pub [where the door into the shop is now] and looked right there were cottages in front of you. I seem to remember the first belonged to a Mrs Collet.
I went to the old school [Church Street] and then the new one [Dovers Park] up the lane from the pub with my brother Jonathan.
I seem to remember my dad's friend and colleague owned The Swan pub up the hill - a Mr Bill Petty.
